What is an Energy Audit?
Important Notice: in the recent federal budget, the government announced the reinstatement of the ecoEnergy federal incentive program. Eligibility and rebate details are now available here EcoEnergy Program. There is a short window to take advantage of the extended program, so register now, then contact us to schedule your pre-retrofit ewnergy audit soon. The NS Provincial program is still effective. Eligibility criteria and rebate information on the Provincial program can be found at http://www.efficiencyns.ca/.
A home energy audit is an evaluation of the energy efficiency of your home (including single-family homes, detached, semi-detached and low-rise multi-unit residential buildings that are no more than 3 storeys high) performed by an NRCan licensed energy advisor.
When you hire one of our certified Home Science energy advisors, you will get a detailed, on-site evaluation of your home's energy use from the attic down to the foundation. Once your evaluation is completed, you will receive a personalized report, which includes a checklist of recommended retrofits to improve the energy efficiency of your home.
Once you make the upgrades and improvements recommended in your energy audit report, contact Antigonish Home Science to conduct a post-retrofit energy evaluation, which you can submit to receive your rebate.
The grant is calculated and based on the grant amounts and eligibility requirements that are in effect at the time of the post-retrofit evaluation.
Note: the Federal rebate program is now closed to new registrants. Current participants must complete all retrofits and upgrades prior to March 31, 2012 and have an post-retrofit audit completed before June 30, 2012.
