The EnerGuide for Houses Federal rebate program has a new name and some new advantages. As part of the Federal Government's EcoAction policy, the new program (now called the ecoENERGY Retrofit - Homes program) has been expanded - but only for a limited time.

This means more opportunity for you to save energy, save money and qualify for (even more) grants and rebates!

To be eligible for ecoENERGY incentives, you must:

  • Hire a certified Energy Advisor to conduct an approved Home Energy Audit/Evaluation.
  • Complete the recommended upgrades and improvements on your home to reduce overall energy usage.
  • Contact your Energy Advisor to come back and conduct a post-retrofit evaluation to confirm your home's new energy rating.

Your Energy Advisor will then submit your new energy rating to the government and you will get receive your Federal grant of up to $5,000, and Provincial (NS) grant of up to $1,500 by mail within 90 days. Download the ConserveNS Rebate Guide Here (PDF 633KB).

Rememeber...upgrades and improvements made without an approved Home Energy Audit will not qualify

You'll also want to check out whether any of your improvements and renovations also qualify for the Federal Government's temporary Home Renovation Tax Credit...so keep those receipts!
